An Approach of Data Mining Techniques Using Firewall Detection for Security and Event Management System

Security is one of the most important issues to force a lot of research and development effort in last decades. We are introduced a mining technique like firewall detection and frequent item set selection to enhance the system security in event management system. In addition, we are increasing the deduction techniques we have try to overcome attackers in data mining rules using our SIEM project. In proposed work to leverages to significantly improve attack detection and mitigate attack consequences. And also we proposed approach in an advanced decision-making system that supports domain expert’s targeted events based on the individuality of the exposed IWIs. Furthermore, the application of different aggregation functions besides minimum and maximum of the item sets. Frequent and infrequent weighted item sets represent correlations frequently holding the data in which items may weight differently. However, we need is discovering the rare or frequent data correlations, cost function would get minimized using data mining techniques. There are many issues discovering rare data like processing the larger data, it takes more for process. Not applicable to discovering data like minimum of certain values. We need to handle the issue of discovering rare and weighted item sets, the frequent weighted itemset (WI) mining problem. Two novel quality measures are proposed to drive the WI mining process and Minimal WI mining efficiently in SIEM system.

A Review and Evaluation of Queue Based Control Power Efficient Spectrum Allocation Method for LTE Networks

The cognitive radio based wireless regional area networks (WRAN) is nothing but IEEE-802.22 standard. IEEE 802.22 standard enables opportunistic access to in-use or free 900 MHz TV sub bands by secondary networks. There are many other standards presented; however there is no efficient methods for cognitive networks like LTE for channel access and bandwidth utilization. The existing methods for spectrum access in LTE networks, however most of methods are not flexible, power consuming. Also in literature, we studied that existing methods of spectrum allocation in LTE networks does not efficiently achieve the tradeoff between network QoS (Quality of Service) and power efficiency. The goal of this paper is to present the review on such different spectrum efficiency techniques for LTE networks and then evaluate the recent Queue Based Control (QBC) for power efficient spectrum allocation with its limitations and benefits. QBC approach helps in solving the research problem related to the energy efficiency as well as QoS efficiency to some extent. There are two variants of QBC method such as QBC1 and QBC2 with different objectives and configurations. We are evaluating both this approach on LTE network which is composed of Spectrum Manager (SM), evolved Nodes B (eNBs) and number of user’s. The experimental work is conducted using network simulator (NS2) for delay and energy consumption parameters.

Prediction of Gas Consumption in Transportation Based on Grey System Theory

Prediction of gasoline consumption in transportation accurately has important reference value for the scientific planning and decision making on the energy needs and environmental protection. For the lack of historical data of gasoline consumption in transportation, a grey gas consumption prediction model is built based on grey system modeling and the analysis of degree of grey incidence and residual. Contrastive analysis of specific value of the variance and small error probability of a case study with accuracy grades indicated that the gray gas consumption prediction model is fitting precisely and reliable.

Effect of Thermal Impact Failure on Aluminum Alloy Piston Crown

An analytical study of the thermal impact failure on a diesel engine piston has been performed in order to determine and analyze the possible causes of the failure. The piston is subjected to preliminary inspection, microstructure analysis and then hardness testing. Visual examination revealed the impact made by piston with valve head and the subsequent welding of the broken valve portion with the piston crown. It is observed to be caused by improper operating conditions. SEM and EDS analysis performed on the piston specimen revealed the presence of high alloy content and various intermetallics that precipitated in the Al-Si alloy material during combustion process. These particles are attributed for the high hardness and brittleness of the piston surface which thereby resulted in its fracture upon the impact. The weak boundaries between the intermetallics easily enable fatigue crack growth up to failure. Results from the microhardness test performed on the specimens validate the increase in hardness on the crown than on skirt. The analysis of obtained data and observations suggests that piston would have failed by fatigue even if the valve operated properly.

Application of Reliability Centered Maintenance on Horizontal Boring Machine - A Case Study

A case study has been developed by analyzing the RCM effectiveness on the balancing system of horizontal boring machine in private sector Madhya Pradesh , by using tools such as FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis), FTA (Fault Tree Analysis), MTBF (Mean time between failure) and MTTR (Mean time to repair). The failure characteristics of system components (cylinder, Direction control valve and pump) have been compared in terms of RPN, Criticality number, MTBF and MTTR. Fault tree analysis performed on the balancing system enabled to explore the root causes of component failure with help of hydraulic balancing circuit. FMEA analysis provided RPN (Risk priority number) and criticality numbers which indicated higher failure risk for Direction control valve, whereas MTBF and MTTR values suggested pump has higher failure chance. By preparing a logic diagram for each of the components, the contribution of each one for the implementation of a structured predictive maintenance planning has been determined.

Design and Implementation of Image Compression Encoder using Orthogonal Approximation DCT

Image Compression is usually carried out using discrete cosine transform (DCT) because compressed image using DCT will take less memory to store the image and quality of the image will be good compared JPEG and HEVC. But, in this work an attempt is made to achieve compression using Approximation DCT (ADCT). ADCT is useful for reducing its computational complexity without affecting its coding performance. It provides better image and video compression compared to the DCT. ADCT is orthogonal and it has lower structural complexity compared to DCT. The unique feature of the ADCT is that it could be configured for the computation of the 32 point ADCT or for parallel computation of two16 point ADCTs or four 8 points ADCTs. It has many advantages in terms of orthogonality, structural simplicity and lower computational complexity. The proposed ADCT is implemented using Verilog and Simulated by ModelSim and synthesized by Xilinx ISE 9.1i. Results are compared with 16 point ADCT with 16 point DCT implementation. The target device is XC5vtx330t-2ff1738. The 16 point ADCT implementation results in a saving of 28.37% IOBs and 63% of LUTs, compared to existing 16 point DCT implementation.

The dissertation report presents a theoretical analysis to investigate the influence of non-Newtonian pseudo-plastic and dilatant lubricant behaviour on 180 degree partial arc orifice compensated hydrostatic/hybrid journal bearings performance characteristics. An approximate solution for bearing performance characteristics has been computed from Reynolds’s equation using Finite Element Method technique, considering non-Newtonian power law model. The computed approximate solution shows that all the performance parameters such as minimum fluid film thickness, load carrying capacity, stiffness and damping of fluid etc. are affected by powerlaw index (n).

Preparation and Characterization of Fe/Sio2 Nanoparticles Composite via Sol-Gel and Chemical Reduction Method

Fe/SiO2 nanoparticles composite via sol-gel and chemical reduction method was studied in this work. We found that the Fe/SiO2 nanocomposite is studied with various ratios between Fe and SiO2. We found that the Fe nanoparticles are distributed uniformly on the SiO2 support, leading to enhance the surface area of Fe on the SiO2 as well as improve the stability of Fe on SiO2 compared to pure Fe. The results shows the surface area of Fe/SiO2 is about of 50.108 m2/g, is much larger than the pure Fe (26 m2/g). The results of this work suggests that the way to synthesis Fe/SiO2 nanocomposite with highly uniform distribution and surface area via sol-gel and chemical reduction method.

The Sustainability of Planning Tourism for Cuban Beach Ecosystems

This article addresses elements related to sustainability in tourism-related planning and proposals for how to manage the negative environmental impact in beach ecosystems, which have been caused by certain construction approaches and techniques. For the purposes of this study, said negative impact is defined as the direct or indirect adverse consequences suffered by natural and socioeconomic ecosystems as a result of an environmental change caused by an action or set of actions of human or man-made origin. We will analyze the case studies of interventions in coastal ecosystems with high levels of ecological fragility, such as the beaches of the small islands or keys of Cuba. Strategic lines of action with a focus on sustainability are proposed in order to ensure respectful architectural interventions in these highly environmentally and socio-culturally vulnerable ecosystems of this island region.

A Failure Analysis and Remaining Life assessment of Boiler Water Wall tube

This paper presents failure investigation on the SA210GrC water wall tube by visual Site inspection, tube wall thickness measurements, chemical composition test, Hardness test and microstructure analysis with proper evidence collected to identify the exact cause of the failure. The water wall tube was failed with blister, bulging and creep cracks on outer surface located near to the Soot Blower. On-site wall thickness measurements were performed on some of the water wall tubes located at the same level of the ruptured tube. The tubes have significant wall thinning and erosion from outside. Mild corrosion deposition also seen in the inner side. Microscopic examinations on the failed rupture region and some distance away of the as-received tubes are also conducted in order to determine the failure mechanism and root cause. Failure mechanisms are also discussed and relevant data from few months back to the failure gathered to identify the failure reason. The failure mechanism is identified as a result of the combination of the significant wall thinning of water wall tube due to long term overheating and creep. Corrosion due to oxygen is also a cause of wall thinning. Root cause analysis identified that deaerator was not working efficient to remove dissolved gases was reason behind corrosion. Long term overheating was due to operating temperature above the design one. Finally all the parameters checked and rectified properly. Maintenance of Deaerator has been done to put it in the working condition.

Solar Disinfection of Drinking Water with Polyethylene Terephthalate Bottles Coated with Nano-Titanium Dioxide

Water disinfection processes in the presence of titanium dioxide as a photo-catalyst material provide an interesting route to destroy contaminants, being operational in the UV-A domain with a potential use of solar radiation. In recent years, advanced oxidation processes (AOP) have been developed to meet the increasing need of an effective wastewater treatment. AOP generates powerful oxidizing agent hydroxyl radicals which completely destroy the pollutants in waste water. Solar disinfection of drinking water with polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles coated with photo-catalyst TiO2 has been shown to be very effective. The study is based on comparison between three systems for treating contaminated water samples using PET bottles. First system was a PET untreated bottle, the second system was a PET bottle coated with black paint on its outer surface. Finally the third system was a PET bottle coated also with a black coat on its outer surface and its inner part was treated with citric acid solution to enable np-TiO2 to cover the surface later on, then 0.2 g of np-TiO2 powder (of particle size <25 nm, Sigma-Aldrich) was added. The total bacterial accounts were determined to monitor the effect in the three systems. The experimental results have shown that disinfecting water with merely UV was less effective than combining the bottle with heat effect, and adding TiO2 film was further more benefited. This work can be applied in rural areas, with no technical support or need for expensive/dangerous chemicals for drinking safe water even if is stored for two days.

Assessment of Musculoskeletal Disorder Risk in watch assembly Industry

Watch assembly is repetitive, monotonous and highly visual demanding task and has been identified as a likely contributor to the development of work related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs). A large number of the young workforce was engaged in assembling units where the design of the workstation and work environment does not adequately fulfill the ergonomic requirements for correct manual assembly. Due to the poor ergonomically designed workstation workers had to adopted the awkward work posture which leads to musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) and the occupational health hazards. Therefore, a survey of watch assembly industry was conducted to assess the prevalence of work-related musculoskeletal disorders among female workers. The 120 respondents were selected from two units among which one was carrying out manual assembly and another one automatic assembly line. RULA (Rapid Upper Limb Assessment) was used to assess the working postures and recommend the changes to be made. To examine the prevalence of body pain body map was used. Frequency and percentage were used for the analysis of data. This study has shown that women workers involved in assembly work were confronted with WMSDs. Watch assembly workers carrying out repetitive tasks with hands and fingers, and working in awkward postures had high pain prevalence in the neck, upper back and lower back pain. Thus it is clear that due to adoption of awkward postures at work for a prolonged period of time, the female assembly workers suffer from high rate of work related musculoskeletal disorders.

Numerical Studies on Laser Welded Top-Hat Column under Axial Collision Based on the Concept of Super-Folding Element

Extruded longitudinal double-skinned aluminium body plates with integrated stiffeners are recently used for manufacturing in automobile industry like front rails and railway carriages. These extrusions provide light and heavy rigid structures. However, since it is not feasible to produce large parts by extrusion, these plates need to be connected, mostly by welding techniques. The crashworthiness performance of laser welded columns is evaluated using finite element (FE) analysis. This is very important in automobiles, since more attention is being paid to crashworthiness of the structures in recent years. The analysis method is based on the Superfolding Element (SE) concept, which originates from experimentally observed folding patterns of crushed shell elements. The FE model is used to predict accurately the progressive axial collapse of the lased welded columns and impact strength is greatly improved by laser welding technique.

Power Flow Control and Current Ripple Minimization of HVDC Converter System by Using Zero-Sequence Voltage Injection Control

This paper introduces the Zero_Sequence Voltage_Injection(ZSVI) based Model Predictive_Control (MPC) to minimize the ripples in dc current & voltage and concurrently regulate the power_flow & dc_current. This paper takes the benefits to calculate and inject best possible zero_sequence_voltage_components to Parallel_Hybrid Modular Multilevel_Converter (PHMMC) dc bus voltage. Dc line current has been derived by discrete_time_dynamic model and also it expands the predictive_model. Required amount of zero sequence voltage is injected to reference voltage of dc bus by using predictive model. Compared to triplen_harmonic injection_method, the proposed scheme improves the PHMMC_performance by minimizing the ripples of dc_voltage ¤t. Execution of the proposed methodology of PHMMC-based HVDC system is done using SIMULINK/MATLAB.

The Computational Techniques Developed to Analyze DNA Gel Images

The analysis of gel electrophoresis images is very crucial for molecular biologists to comprehend and interpret their experimental results. Thus, enhancing current mathematical methods and developing new accurate ones is very important and challenging task for bioinformaticians. For example, enhancing the commonly used mathematical method in gel analysis known as "Fitting method estimation" and proposing a new efficient method entitled "Ruler estimation" for preprocessing a given image and detecting lanes and bands automatically. Both mathematical methods implemented in our newly developed software. Three mathematical models namely, linear, quadratic and cubic fitting are tested for the accuracy of detecting the bands and lanes in the gel image to determine the best fitting model. A friendly user interface is developed for this new program using MATLB GUI to extract useful bimolecular information accurately and automatically. The new software has the ability to manually add or delete any band(s) and estimate the size of any unknown band(s) on the gel. Moreover, the similarity and (dis)similarity between lanes "samples" are estimated based on comparing the numbers and sizes of bands to generate a phylogram tree.

Steel Reinforced Reactive Powder Concrete

RPC is an emerging technology that lends a new dimension to the term “high performance concrete”. It has immense potential in construction due to superior mechanical and durability properties than conventional high performance concrete, and could even replace steel in some applications. The development of RPC is based on the application of some basic principles to achieve enhanced homogeneity, very good workability, high compaction, improved microstructure and high ductility. RPC has an ultra-dense microstructure, giving advantage of waterproofing and durability characteristics. It could, therefore be a suitable choice for industrial and nuclear waste storage facilities. This paper presents the experimental procedure for the design of self-compacting Reactive Powder Concrete, in which we proposed the mix proportion with the globally acceptance result of all tests and the carried out test are slump flow test and V-funnel test. The mix consists of 85%of cement,15% of silica fume(as a cement replacement material), Fine aggregate(river sand), Quartz powder ,4% superplastizer and varying percentage of steel fibres. The compressive strength, split tensile strength and flexural strength was checked on the 3-day, 7-day and 28-day and results are indicating that the proposed mix can produce self-compacting reactive powder concrete (Ultra High Performance Concrete)with higher quality. Ultra High-performance concretes are made with carefully selected high-quality ingredients and optimized mixture designs; these are batched, mixed, placed, compacted and cured to the highest industry standards. Typically, such concretes will have a low water-cementing materials ratio of 0.20 to 0.45. Super Plasticizers are usually used to make these concretes fluid and workable. Ultra High-performance concrete almost always has a higher strength than high performance concrete.

Intrusion Detection and Anomaly Detection System Using Sequential Pattern Mining

Nowadays the security methods from password protected access up to firewalls which are used to secure the data as well as the networks from attackers. Several times these type of security methods are not enough to protect data. We can consider the use of Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) is the one way to secure the data on critical systems. Most of the research work is going on the effectiveness and exactness of the intrusion detection, but these attempts are for the detection of the intrusions at the operating system and network level only. It is unable to detect the unexpected behavior of systems due to malicious transactions in databases. The method used for spotting any interferes on the information in the form of database known as database intrusion detection. It relies on enlisting the execution of a transaction. After that, if the recognized pattern is aside from those regular patterns actual is considered as an intrusion. But the identified problem with this process is that the accuracy algorithm which is used may not identify entire patterns. This type of challenges can affect in two ways. 1) Missing of the database with regular patterns. 2) The detection process neglects some new patterns. Therefore we proposed sequential data mining method by using new Modified Apriori Algorithm. The algorithm upturns the accurateness and rate of pattern detection by the process. The Apriori algorithm with modifications is used in the proposed model.

Numerical Analysis of Laterally Loaded RC Stiffened-Plate Using ANSYS

The most widely used structural element in civil engineering structures are reinforced concrete plates.. In the available literature, numbers of design guidelines are available for proportioning the plate systems and mostly, these guidelines have been suggested on the basis of the results of an extensive series of tests and the well established performance record of various plate systems. However, its behavior is not fully understood. In the present paper, an attempt has been made to study the effect of beam stiffness on the moment field and crack pattern appearing in the plate under a uniform lateral load. To validate the analytical results, these are compared with the experimental results available in the literature and are found to be in good agreement.

Impact of Cold Start on Vehicle Fuel Economy and Performance

The goal of this research is to understand and quantify the impact and effects of low temperature operation has on the performance and efficiency of vehicle fuel cell systems through modeling. More specifically, this work addresses issues of the initial thermal transient known to the automotive community as “cold-start” effects. Cold-start effects play a significant role in power limitations in a fuel cell vehicle, and may require hybridization (batteries) to supplement available power. A fuel cell system model developed as part of this work allows users to define the basic thermal fluid relationships in a fuel cell system. The model can be used as a stand-alone version or as part of a complex fuel cell vehicle model. Fuel cells are being considered for transportation primarily because they have the ability to increase vehicle energy efficiency and significantly reduce or eliminate tailpipe emissions. A proton exchange membrane fuel cell is an electrochemical device for which the operational characteristics depend heavily upon temperature. Thus, it is important to know how the thermal design of the system affects the performance of a fuel cell, which governs the efficiency and performance of the system.

A Framework for Scrutiny of Secure Data Storage in Cloud Services

In cloud computing, data owners host their data on cloud servers and users (data consumers) can access the data from cloud servers. Due to the data outsourcing, however, this new paradigm of data hosting service also introduces new security challenges, which requires an independent auditing service to check the data integrity in the cloud. Some existing remote integrity checking methods can only serve for static archive data and thus cannot be applied to the auditing service since the data in the cloud can be dynamically updated. Thus, an efficient and secure dynamic auditing protocol is desired to convince data owners that the data are correctly stored in the cloud. In this paper, we first design an auditing framework for cloud storage systems and propose an efficient and privacy-preserving auditing protocol. Then, we extend our auditing protocol to support the data dynamic operations, which is efficient and provably secure in the random oracle model. We further extend our auditing protocol to support batch auditing for both multiple owners and file verification. The analysis and simulation results show that our proposed auditing protocols are secure and efficient, especially it reduce the computation cost of the auditor.

Classification of Cervix Tumor using Bag of Visual Word Classifier

A tumor segmentation and classification system has been designed and developed on computed tomography images. Image processing is used in the medical field for detection of tumor. Image segmentation is an important part of image processing. Segmentation is the process of subdividing an image into distinct regions. The algorithm has the steps of preprocessing, cervix extraction, cervix boundary correction, image segmentation, feature extraction and image classification. The image is preprocessed using adaptive median filtering and fuzzy thresholding. The cervix is extracted using canny edge detection and border tracing algorithm. The cervix boundary correction is performed using adaptive concave hull algorithm. Segmentation is performed using region growing based technique. Then for the segmented tumor region, the features are extracted using the gray level co-occurrence matrix. After the features are extracted, the image is classified as the benign or malignant cervix by using the bag of visual word classifier.
