Abstract:

The aim of this article is to analyse the social construction of the processes of compliance with organic agriculture and agroecology based on the collective action promoted by movements, social organisations, universities, Agroecology Centres, public and private entities in Pernambuco's territory. The different strategies developed by territorial organisations, with the support of the Pernambuco Organic Production Commission (CPOrg-PE), have produced results in the field of expanding the Brazilian system of accreditation and guarantee of organic and agroecological production from the national to the territorial level. This process highlights the state of Pernambuco within the context of the National Policy on Agroecology and Organic Production, which is expanded through the construction of Social Control Organisations (OCS) which, strengthened by the participation of women farmers, articulate production, commercialisation and consumption initiatives, raising the levels of food sovereignty and nutritional security for rural and urban populations in Pernambuco, Brazil.
