Degradation of forests and Climate Change are on the agenda of relevant debates at a global level. Environmental monitoring data demonstrate the unsustainability of forests and the need to seek ways of coexistence, man and the natural environment, dissociated from a purely economic matrix. In the direction of building a thought that encourages society towards an educational trajectory about forests and the rational use of natural resources, this article is presented as a theoretical essay, which aims to make some considerations about the idea of Forestry Education - EF as an interdisciplinary and integrative social educational process; a potential pathway to environmental quality; and its possible contribution to regional development. It was concluded that considering Forestry Education as a potential way of contributing to development requires society to change behavior in the way of living and acting in the spaces it occupies, that it is necessary to expand public involvement through initiatives that enable a raising the level of awareness and education, ensuring information and institutional consolidation of open channels for participation in a pluralist perspective. |
