It is known that sustainability is directly linked to the way people should behave in relation to nature and how they should train themselves to conserve or sustain a certain action, system or process. In this sense, family farming, in theory, is more likely to preserve sustainable principles. This work is the result of a bibliographic review, with discussions and reflections by authors who deal with the fundamentals of sustainability in the face of the dysfunctions that family farming has been going through, because despite its relevance to food and nutritional security, it has been moving away from practices that must be sustainable. Thus, the results show that there are deviations from sustainable dimensions in family farming, which is responsible for a large part of food production. At the same time, it is perceived that an effective policy of care is of paramount importance, with regard to investments and guidance on the need to reestablish the dimensions of sustainability in family farming practice. |
